Tutorial Title: How to create a metallic plate
Program: PSP 5+
Step 1: Make a new image with any size that you want, just be sure to make it big enough for you to work with it. Make your foreground color a simple grey.
Step 2: Create a new layer, create a rounded rectangle, or any shape that you prefer. Make sure that it is not filled and is only an outline of two pixels.
Step 3: Select the Magic Wand and set the feathering to about 5 or 7 and click on the inside of your rectangle. Do not deselect.
Step 4: Now select the paint bucket and change your foreground to a darker gray. Now fill your selection. Click the burn tool and burn away ever so slightly. Turn down the opacity of the burn tool so that you have more control. Add a few screws, and definately play around with the layer modes. Now you're done! Below is what I came out with.
NOTE!: If you have PSP6, then you are able to add a few more touches to your image. By using the Charcoal tool, you are able to add scratches to your image. However, if you have version 5, you might be able to experiment a little more with some help from a good set of 3rd party filters.

Hint! Instead of using a plain fill with your airbrush, try using one of the airbrush filters built into PSP. You may also try using a gradient with the Paint Bucket selection.
