Tutorial Title: How to create shadows
Program: PSP 5+
Step 1: Open a new image with the dimensions 100x100 pixels, however you can use any size you want. Make a new layer and put some text or something on it.
Step 2: Duplicate this layer and press SHIFT + B to open the brightness/contrast dialog. Set the brightness to -255 and the contrast to 0.
Step 3: To make it look like the light is very close to your object, just move the black duplicate over in the opposite direction from which you want the light source to be. Change the opacity to about 70%.
Step 4: To make it look like the light source is far away, add a gaussian blur to the black duplicate and move it over in the opposite direction from which you want the light source to be. Change the opacity to about 70%.
Step 5: If you apply a gaussian blur to the black duplicate, choose the deformation tool, and play around while holding down SHIFT or CTRL; you can make it look like your image is three dimensional.
