| Tutorial Title: How to create a 3D sphere |
| Program: PSP 5+ |
Step 1: Create a new image with dimensions of about 500x500 pixels and a white background. Set black as the foreground color. Select the selection tool. Set it to ellipse, zero feathring, and check antialias. Draw a circle that is about 100x100 pixels in size |
| Step 2: Create a new layer and name it circle base. Make sure that the selection is still active, and fill it with black. |
| Step 3: Now to create the effect of 3D, you could go about it two ways: using the airbrush (my favorite, but takes a little longer), or by using a gradient. In this tutorial we are going to go with the gradient option.
|
| Step 4: In PSP you are able to create and save your own gradients, but for now, use the gradient I am providing you with. Create a new layer, you should still have the selection active, because i haven't told you to deselect it yet. :] Name this layer gradient. Now using the paint bucket (also known as the fill tool) fill the selection with the gradient. |
Step 5: You could stop at step four, but if you are like me, you will notice thatthe sphere now has a bit of jagged edges around the gradient. To correct this apply a gaussian blur of about 3.00 while the selection is still active. Invert the selection and go to Selection > modify > feather and apply a feathering of about 3. Press delete once and deselect the selection. Now you should have a nice simple sphere. Now you can experiment with other methods and with other gradients if you like.
