| Tutorial Title: Advanced Wires |
| Program: PSP 7+ |
Step 1: Make a new image about 400x400 pixels in size. Set the background color to white. |
Step 2: Click on the Draw tool and set it to "Point to Point." When you make a click, keep it down and drag the mouse, you should get anchor/control points that you can move around to adjust the curve of the line. Make to points, a start and an end point. When you are done creating your curve, rightclick and click exit node editing.
|
| Step 3: With the vector selection tool, right click on your curve and select properties. Set the stroke to "solid" and the color should be black. Set the Fill to none. Next set the stroke width to 10 and the join to round. Click ok to see the results.
|
| Step 4: Duplicate the vecotr layer (layer 1) and you should know have layer 1 and layer 1 copy. Hide the copy. Go back to layer 1 and covert it to a raster layer. No to create the 3d, you can go about it in two ways, either use the magic wand to select the wire and airbrush the 3d. Or use the inner bevel filter to do it quickly. For this tutorial we'll use the filter because i cannot explain how to use the airbrush right now, thats anohter tutorial. Go: Effects > 3d effects > inner bevel, and put these settings into the filter dialog. |
Step 5: Create a dropshadow. Go to layer 1 copy and unhide it. Follow the "text on a path" tutorial in order to create the lines on the wire. All the lines are, are lower case letter "L" over and over again. Make the l's a mild grey and hide the original path. Move the l's and distor them until they are completely on top of the wire. Convert this layer to a raster layer and apply the inner bevel filter again with the same settings as before except up the depth to 30.

 |
Step 6: Do a bit of tweaking and you'll be done. Here's one wire i did, this one was done using the airbrush which i like better than any filter because you have more control over how the image turns out.
