Tutorial Title: How to create a very basic wire
Program: PS 5+
Step 1: Make a new image with any dimensions you like. I usually use something around 500X500 pixels. Set your colors to default. Create a good sized rectangle. Make a new layer.

Step 2: Set a light gray as your foreground color. Select the gradient tool, choose the foreground to background preset gradient and reflected for gradient type. I zoomed in a bit in the image below to show from where to where to draw your gradient. Start slightly above the center, and end your gradient a bit above the top of your selection.

Step 3: You should have something that looks like the image below. You can now turn off your selections. Make a new layer.

Step 4: Using the line tool draw a black line that that goes the exact top of your wire to the bottom of it. Make its thickness look somewhat proportional to your wire. My line was about 3 or 4 pixels wide if I remember correctly. Draw a white line right next to the black line you just drew. Set the layer mode to soft light.

Step 5: Select the move tool. Holding down OPTION and SHIFT, press either the left or right arrow key to create a duplicate of your lines. You might need to space the sets of lines a bit more depending on the size of your wire, to do this, simply hold SHIFT and press the arrow in the direction you want to go. When you are done, you can then merge all the lines and the wire layer leaving you with one layer containing a finished wire. My wire is below.
